WWE star Becky Lynch has come under fire after making a crass joke about the death of Ozzy Osbourne during Monday Night Raw in Birmingham.
The show, broadcast live on Netflix on August 25, marked WWE’s return to the UK. But instead of celebrating the city, Lynch mocked its most famous son just a month after his death at the age of 76.
Becky Lynch bringing up Ozzy Osbourne in Birmingham
“The only good thing to come out of Birmingham died a month ago! But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, at least he moved to LA, a proper city, because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too!”#WWERAW pic.twitter.com/7W2KeXwtFF

“The only good thing that came outta here died a month ago,” Lynch told the crowd. She then added, “But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”
Gasps rang around the arena, with fans stunned at the timing and tone of the comments. Many took to social media within minutes, describing the lines as “sick” and “disrespectful.” Others argued that, even in character, Lynch had crossed a line.
Kelly Osbourne leads furious backlash
The strongest response came from Ozzy’s daughter Kelly, who launched into Lynch with a furious Instagram post.

“Becky Lynch you are a disrespectful dirtbag!” she wrote. “Birmingham would not p*** on you if you were on fire. Shame on WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!”
Kelly accidentally tagged a Lynch fan account in her story, but the message was still clear. She demanded accountability not just from the wrestler but from the promotion itself.
Fans backed Kelly’s outrage, calling Lynch “classless” and insisting WWE should apologise. Dozens of Black Sabbath supporters also piled in, sharing memories of Ozzy’s farewell concert at Villa Park only weeks before his death.
Lynch, who wrestles as a heel character, has not commented publicly since the show. The promo was intended to build towards her upcoming Intercontinental Championship match against Nikki Bella, but instead, it has created a storm of criticism.
Osbourne passed away on July 22, only days after Black Sabbath’s charity farewell show in Birmingham that featured Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer and more.
