WATCH: ARIEL HELWANI AND LOGAN PAUL AWKWARDLY CLASH OVER CONOR MCGREGOR LEAK

Ariel Helwani and Logan Paul engaged in an awkward exchange after the WWE superstar accused the MMA journalist of leaking information about his proposed boxing bout with Conor McGregor.

Helwani went on the IMPAULSIVE podcast and provided some great insight into his UFC ban, his thoughts on the Jon Jones retirement and his opinion on the WWE product.

However, things became rather tense when Paul and Helwani got into a disagreement about the McGregor situation.

The discussion stemmed from Helwani talking about his code of conduct, claiming he never breaks trust when talking to fighters confidentially.

Paul stopped the journalist in his tracks, and argued that Helwani did previously run with information provided, citing the McGregor leak.

The current WWE star and McGregor reportedly held preliminary talks for a potential boxing fight in 2025, though nothing ever materialised.

Helwani refuses to back down from accusations

Paul opened up on the incident, saying: “When it was rumoured that I was fighting McGregor. You DM me and [asked], ‘Is it true?’ And I said, ‘At the moment, no.’

“I didn’t say this is proprietary information, and ‘I’d like to keep this rumour going for clout’. But maybe I should have. You went right on your show and said they don’t have anything in place.”

Helwani refused to back down and decided to defend himself, saying: “This is inaccurate. I actually went on my show and said, ‘There was something. There were discussions.”

Paul responded: “Well, there were discussions in place. I just don’t know if I was ready for that information to break.”

The MMA Hour journalist dismissed the claims, citing his strict rule of never leaking off-the-record information.

Helwani irked by leak claim

The 43-year-old journalist took to social media once the podcast was released and continued to defend himself.

Replying to a clip of the argument, Helwani said: “Yeah, this never happened. In fact, the EXACT opposite what he said happened actually happened. I take this very seriously. Should I post the DM @LoganPaul or …?”

Helwani is one of the biggest names in combat sport media, winning the ‘MMA journalist of the year award’ every year since 2010.

Back in 2011, the journalist was also named as one of the most influential people in the sport by Fight! magazine.
