Mick Foley’s decision to step away from WWE has continued to ripple through the wrestling world, with Kevin Nash now offering his perspective on the fallout.
Foley confirmed this week that he will no longer make appearances for WWE or renew his Legends contract, citing the company’s ongoing association with Donald Trump.
The announcement placed renewed focus on WWE’s leadership ties, particularly Linda McMahon’s role within the current Trump administration.
While Foley framed his decision as a personal line he could no longer cross, the move prompted immediate discussion about how others connected to WWE might respond.
Kevin Nash was one of them.
Mick Foley’s exit puts spotlight on WWE ties
Foley explained that his stance stemmed from WWE’s relationship with Trump, who currently serves as President of the United States. Linda McMahon, the wife of former WWE chairman Vince McMahon, now holds the position of Secretary of Education.
That connection has drawn scrutiny, especially as the administration moves toward dismantling the Department of Education.
During her Senate confirmation hearing earlier this year, McMahon declined to answer whether Black history courses would remain protected under a new executive order tied to federal funding.
Foley’s announcement made clear that, for him, the association was no longer something he could accept.
Kevin Nash addressed the situation on the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, after receiving messages asking whether he planned to follow Foley’s lead.
Nash explains stance
“Mick (Foley) was in the news. He bailed, and I was just like, man, I understand it and if that’s how Mick feels, I get it, from Mick’s standpoint,” Nash said.
“But for me personally, because I had some people text me like, ‘Are you gonna follow suit?’ I said, ‘Let me explain my position.’
“I called a couple people because I’m not gonna f*cking text my thought patterns.”
From there, Nash laid out the personal history that shapes his relationship with Paul Levesque and the McMahon family.
“Paul (Levesque) and I drove up and down the road for a year and a half. Paul was the first of The Kliq to hold T (Nash’s son)… As time goes on, he gets with Steph (McMahon) and I was at their wedding. I was one of Paul’s best men. I was in the wedding.”
He also recalled an early moment involving Linda McMahon that stayed with him.
“When I was Diesel, they flew my wife up to New York City and Linda (McMahon) took my wife out for the day… And that was my wife’s first visit to New York City while I was busy doing a commercial and doing some other things.”
“Linda took care of my wife and I’ll forever be grateful for that because my wife was really nervous.
“It’s like, they’re my Republican family, you know? But they’re family.”
