Karrion Kross and his wife Scarlett are now free agents after leaving WWE earlier this month, and Jeff Jarrett has become the latest name to weigh in on their situation.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani last week, Kross explained that WWE did offer him a new deal but gave him just 24 hours to accept it. When he hesitated, WWE pulled the offer. Kross also said the company never offered Scarlett a contract.
The story has sparked plenty of discussion in wrestling circles. Now Jeff Jarrett has added his perspective on the situation during the latest episode of his My World podcast.
Jarrett suggested that the uncertainty around the pair might actually be part of a larger plan. He even hinted that a deal with WWE could already be in place, saying the intrigue itself is what makes the story compelling.
Jeff Jarrett on Karrion Kross WWE contract wrangle
“I have not followed it as closely as you have, but if he was given the ability to write a book that was under WWE watch. This is what I like most of all. It has become a story that people are engaged in and with Raw, SmackDown, NXT, TNA, AAA, he ain’t going nowhere,” Jarrett said.
“I think the deal’s already done and agreed upon, and they’re navigating this. Shoot, work, regardless, it’s one and the same. I’m a big believer… I didn’t come up with it.
“I’m mirroring what I was taught in the territory, and they were mirroring what they were taught. They’re blurring the lines as much as possible, and I’m all for it.”
Jarrett continued by stressing that uncertainty can be powerful in pro wrestling.
“Do I know what’s real and what’s not real? No, but I’m damn sure intrigued and trying to learn and observe that they’ve got people engaged. Kevin has had a lot of TV time over the last however long, and getting people engaged.”
He even referenced his own experience with blurring reality and storyline.
“Look, me and Kevin Sullivan, we did a little thing behind the scenes at TNA in 2008/2009. Blurring the lines, I think it’s great, and I think we’re going to see a lot more of it.”
Jarrett summed up his position by saying that the approach is “good for business,” and that dismissing it as a simple storyline would miss the point.
