An insider has raised questions over whether medical malpractice played a role in the death of Hulk Hogan, adding mystery to an already complex case.
Recent reports reveal a police document from the day Hogan passed away included statements from an occupational therapist who was inside the Florida home.
According to TMZ, the therapist told officers that during a recent operation, a surgeon had “severed” Hogan’s phrenic nerve.
That nerve controls the diaphragm, which in turn makes breathing possible. TMZ sources said Hogan never clutched his chest or showed signs of pain. Instead, he suddenly stopped breathing. His wife, Sky, sounded the alarm and dialed 911.
Sky later confirmed parts of that account. She explained that Hogan’s phrenic nerve was “compromised” during surgery.
She also revealed that doctors had already performed an autopsy, but she declined to share the results. Sky added that his body has not yet been cremated.
Meanwhile, the Clearwater Police Department stressed that detectives are still gathering information.
In a statement to TMZ Sports, officials said: “We have been in communication with family members — including his son, Nick, and daughter, Brooke.
“The unique nature of this case has required us to interview multiple witnesses and seek medical records from a variety of providers, and our detectives continue to do that. All of this takes time.
“The Hogan family has been appreciative of our efforts and our communication with them.”
According to TMZ, bodycam footage may also show officers discussing the therapist’s comments at the scene. Investigators will likely review that evidence as part of the wider case.
Brooke Hogan has already called for an autopsy. The family remain active in conversations with police as they search for clarity.
This latest twist follows earlier reports about Hogan’s health struggles in the months before his passing. His widow Sky previously described him as her “safe place,” recalling how difficult his final days had become.
For now, the investigation continues, with detectives working through medical records and testimony. The Hogan family, and fans around the world, are still waiting for clear answers.
