Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are heading to Hollywood to star along Jason Momoa and 50 Cent in the upcoming Street Fighter reboot, set to begin filming next month.
It’s the latest crossover moment involving Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, who will both appear in the upcoming Street Fighter film.
WWE remains confident the production schedule won’t disrupt either man’s storylines.
That comes after a huge SummerSlam weekend, where Rhodes defeated John Cena to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Reigns also returned to action recently for the first time since WrestleMania 41. Filming begins in September, with a 2026 release planned. Sony, Capcom and Legendary are producing, with Kitao Sakurai directing.
Rhodes, Reigns join Street Fighter cast
Rhodes is set to play Guile, the military flat-top icon once portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme. Reigns takes on Akuma, the series’ dark and devastating villain. Their inclusion gives Street Fighter a major crossover hook.
Jason Momoa joins the cast as Blanka, and 50 Cent takes on the role of Balrog. New Japan star Hirooki Goto plans to play E. Honda, while comedian Andrew Schulz steps in as Dan Hibiki.
The cast brings a mix of athletic power and mainstream appeal.
WWE insiders say Rhodes won’t need to be on set full-time. Reigns may take more filming days, but the company doesn’t expect major gaps in TV.
The film will shoot alongside ongoing shows, similar to how WWE has handled past projects with John Cena and The Rock.
This marks Rhodes’ second major film role. His first, in The Naked Gun reboot, arrives in cinemas next month. Reigns previously appeared in Hobbs & Shaw but now steps into a much larger spotlight.
The original Street Fighter movie hit theatres in 1994. Though it gained cult status, it struggled critically. A 2009 follow-up, The Legend of Chun-Li, was universally panned.
This reboot is aiming higher. With Reigns and Rhodes involved, and a star-studded cast behind them, producers are banking on fan loyalty and crossover buzz.
By casting Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, two of WWE’s highest-paid superstars, in Street Fighter, the franchise gains fresh relevance in both wrestling and pop culture.
Filming begins in a matter of weeks. If the on-screen chemistry matches what they’ve delivered in WWE, the fight could be worth watching.
