Chris Jericho has sparked speculation about a WWE return after a small move on Instagram. He liked a post about his AEW contract and the possibility of one more run under the right circumstances.
The 53-year-old’s deal with All Elite Wrestling runs until December 2025. Yet his interaction with the post was enough to spark speculation about whether Y2J could return to Raw or SmackDown.
Jericho has not wrestled since April, when he lost the Ring of Honor World Championship to Bandido on AEW Dynamite. That defeat brought an end to a short title run. Soon after, he announced on screen that he would take some time away to think about his next move.
A return to WWE would be another twist in a career full of them. Jericho made his debut for the company in 1999 with the “countdown to the millennium” promo that unveiled him as Y2J.
Two years later, he made history by beating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night to become the first Undisputed Champion.
Over nearly two decades, Jericho became one of WWE’s most reliable stars. He feuded with major names, including Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and CM Punk.
He also developed a reputation for reinvention. From the smug “Highlight Reel” host to the sarcastic star carrying “The List of Jericho,” he kept his act fresh for each new era.
By 2018, Jericho decided it was time for something different. He became one of the first major names to sign with AEW and played a crucial role in establishing the promotion.
He won the company’s inaugural world championship and later fronted groups like The Inner Circle and the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Jericho has never ruled out stepping back into a WWE ring. He has downplayed the need for a Hall of Fame spot, but his name always surfaces when talk turns to surprise comebacks.
His AEW deal keeps him tied up until late 2025. Still, that small Instagram like was enough to remind fans that in wrestling, nothing is ever completely off the table.
