UFC boss Dana White has poured a huge bucket of cold water on reports that the APEX is due to expand its capacity to 10,000.
Earlier in the week, White announced a new broadcast deal with Paramount worth $7.7 billion, which in turn sparked rumours that the APEX would become a proper arena to house 5000-10,000 fans rather than its current made-for-TV fight hub capacity of less than 1000.
UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell was believed to have confirmed plans for the expansion, which would soon be able to host WWE PLEs, NXT specials and cross-promotional events.
But White had no time for the reports of the expansion, tearing it apart in his post-fight press conference after UFC 319 where Khamzat Chimaev claimed a middleweight title win over Dricus du Plessis.
“That was the biggest bulls— story ever written. It’s f—ing unbelievable,” White said.
“They quoted people that literally said nothing to them. Never spoke to them or anything.
“That entire story was an absolute bulls— lie. The craziest thing we’ve ever seen. This whole story is a lie. Everything about it is a lie, including the people that they quoted. Never talked to them.
“If you look at the construction that’s going on at the APEX, to even think it’s going to be a 10,000-seater arena, it’s f—ing unbelievable.
“Complete lie. Everything about that story was a lie.”
White also shut down Jon Jones’ dreams of comeback at the White House in July 2026.
“I haven’t talked to him at all,” the UFC boss said.
“I would not bet on it. If I have to make odds, it’s a billion to one I put Jon Jones on the White House card.
“What do you think Jon would do in the next couple of months that would make me trust putting him on the White House card?.
“I already said I don’t trust him, and you’re asking me, ‘What could he do for me to trust him in the next three months. You don’t trust him!
