CONOR MCGREGOR’S PRESIDENTIAL BID HITS MAJOR SNAG DESPITE PUBLIC SUPPORT FROM ELON MUSK

UFC legend Conor McGregor embarked on his latest political stunt, outlining his presidential ambitions in a new video.

In his 145 second clip, McGregor – who is stood outside of Dublin’s government building – slammed Ireland’s current representatives, claiming the country has deteriorated under their watch.

The former UFC champion is now looking to throw his name into the hat for Irish presidency, but there is one major obstacle in his way.

In order to get his name on the ballot, McGregor needs to be nominated by either 20 Oireachtas members or four local councils.

With that in mind, the Irishman has pleaded with his supporters to go and speak to local representatives in a bid to secure endorsements.

What did Conor McGregor say?

McGregor’s political rant touched a number of subjects – from levels of poverty to the ongoing migration crisis.

He said: “We have seen the homelessness of Irish children rise to levels unprecedented, proving this Government’s refusal to abide by and respect our proclamation where all children of Irish are to be cherished. Instead, our children abandoned.”

McGregor added: “This incompetent failure of future generations has been accompanied with an intense influx of mass migration into an already severed system.

“Our tourism has sharply declined, while danger on our streets has risen.”

He reached out to his supporters for help, saying: “If you want to see my name on the ballot for the presidency, I urge you to contact your local county councillors today and ask them to nominate me.”

The Irishman added: “Our councillors are the backbone of our communities.

“They work harder and deliver more for the people than those in the Oireachtas, who continue to fail this country time and again.

“If you are a councillor who feels your voice is ignored, your hands tied, and your community overlooked, then I ask you to stand with me. Nominate me, and I will give you the platform and power to be truly heard.”

Elon Musk backs McGregor

McGregor, who is not backed by enough national politicians, is hoping to garner support with local councillors.

Without the nomination of at least four councils, the former UFC champion will not be able to legally run for presidency.

One advantage McGregor has over any other potential candidates is public support from billionaire Elon Musk.

The Tesla and X boss shared McGregor’s video, saying: “No one will fight harder for the people of Ireland than Conor McGregor!”
