UFC superstar Conor McGregor has wished his fiancée a happy birthday on social media as the pair portrayed a united front amid the Irishman’s ongoing scandals.
The former two-weight UFC champion and his partner Dee Devlin – who turned 38 on Saturday – visited a BVLGARI jewellery shop, which the MMA star claims was shut for them.
McGregor is said to have splashed money on a Chanel handbag for Devlin, who he has been engaged to since 2020.
Posting on Instagram, the UFC star wrote: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEXY.” Later sharing an image of him and Devlin together, McGregor commented: “I PROMISE!”
These latest posts come on the back of an Irish Mirror report, which claims that the Gardai (Ireland’s national police force), will not re-open the investigation into McGregor’s alleged December 2018 rape of Nikita Hand.
McGregor controversies continue
McGregor’s shopping trip with his fiancée comes just weeks after the UFC fighter hit the headlines for a series of high-profile controversies.
The multi-millionaire was spotted being intimate with an unidentified woman on a beach in Florida, before rapper Azealia Banks allegedly leaked x-rated photographs of McGregor on social media.
While the Irishman and his partner continue to show a united front, reports in the Irish Daily Mail and The Sun have suggested there may be ‘troubles brewing’ beneath the surface.
The pair first met in a Dublin nightclub back in 2008, with Devlin working behind the bar. The couple, who are parents to four children, went on to get engaged in the summer of 2020.
During his early days as an MMA fighter, McGregor admitted that his family served as his primary source of motivation, saying: “I’m doing this to secure my family’s future and Dee’s future. One day, I want myself and Dee to be able to chill on a beach and not have any worry in the world.”
When will McGregor return to UFC?
McGregor’s last fight took place in July 2021 at UFC 264 when he lost to Dustin Poirier for the second successive time.
The Irishman was set to headline UFC 303 last summer against Michael Chandler, but the fight was cancelled just a few weeks before the event due to injury.
McGregor later revealed the cancellation was due to a broken toe which he sustained during sparring.
The former two-weight champion has reportedly re-entered the UFC’s anti-doping testing pool, which has fuelled speculation about his possible return for a high-profile UFC card at the White House next summer.
