Donald Trump was at his hilarious best as he welcomed FIFA president Gianni Infantino to the White House.
The American president hosted the FIFA chief to announce the details for the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw.
The pair revealed that the main draw will take place at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on December 5.
Next year’s tournament will be the biggest ever, with 48 nations set to participate across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The World Cup was last hosted in North America back in 1994 when Brazil defeated Italy in the final.
Donald Trump jokes he might play
Trump, who loves the spotlight from the media, joked he might find a pair of shorts and play at the tournament.
He said: “I see the money that these soccer players are making… I might try and play! I’m a very good athlete.”
He added: “I may put on shorts – I look extremely good in shorts – and join the play.”
He. Is. HILARIOUS.

Trump also described his son Barron as a standout soccer talent, despite having the height of a basketball player.
“My son is a very good athlete and he’s a good soccer player,” added Trump. “On the tall side for a soccer player – he’s 6’9′. That’s pretty tall?”
Infantino chuckled before replying: “That’s pretty tall – but that’s good.”
Trump asks to keep trophy
Infantino arrived at the Oval Office with the original World Cup trophy – one which was last held by Lionel Messi as Argentina won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Trump was allowed to get his hands on the trophy during the media event, jokingly saying: “Can I keep it?”
Trump’s last involvement with a major trophy came in the Club World Cup final last July.
Chelsea stormed to a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, but as the players went to do the trophy lift, Trump remained on the podium and celebrated with the Blues.
The American president is expected to hand over the World Cup trophy to the winners at the conclusion of next summer’s tournament.
