Cruz Beckham has stepped in publicly to defend his parents after reports claimed David and Victoria Beckham unfollowed their eldest son, Brooklyn, on social media.
The suggestion spread quickly online over the weekend, adding another layer to an already strained family situation. Cruz was quick to shut it down.
Posting on Instagram, the 20-year-old described the reports as false and insisted the reality was the opposite.
Cruz Beckham addresses rumours
Cruz shared a screenshot of the headline circulating online and wrote simply: “NOT TRUE.”
“My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right,” Cruz wrote. “They woke up blocked… as did I.”
Cruz did not say when the block happened, only that it had already taken place by the time the reports emerged. Brooklyn has not commented publicly on Cruz’s claims.
David and Victoria Beckham have also stayed silent so far.
How the unfollow claims surfaced
The online speculation began after fans noticed David and Victoria no longer appeared in Brooklyn’s Instagram followers list. Some reports suggested the couple had taken the step themselves.
Cruz’s post directly challenged that version of events and reframed the situation as something done to them, not by them.
Neither Brooklyn nor his wife Nicola Peltz have responded publicly to the claims.
Long-running tensions remain unresolved
The Instagram incident comes against the backdrop of a wider family rift that has lingered for months.
Earlier reports have suggested ongoing tensions between Brooklyn, Nicola, and David and Victoria, with little to no communication between the two sides. Those close to the situation have previously described efforts at reconciliation as stalled.
Brooklyn has missed several major family gatherings during the year, while his parents have continued to express support publicly, without addressing the details of the disagreement.
No Beckham family Christmas
The timing of the social media fallout has drawn extra attention, with Christmas approaching.
Brooklyn is not expected to join his parents, brothers Romeo and Cruz, or sister Harper for the holidays. Instead, he is believed to be staying in the United States with Nicola and her family.
David and Victoria are set to spend Christmas at their home in the Cotswolds with the rest of the Beckham family.
The rift dates back several years and reportedly intensified around Brooklyn’s wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022.
That period marked the beginning of prolonged distance, missed family events, and competing narratives about who made efforts to repair the relationship.
Since then, Brooklyn has skipped major milestones, including David Beckham’s recent birthday celebrations, while Nicola no longer follows David or Victoria online either.
Dad David was knighted by King Charles earlier this year.
