Cristiano Ronaldo finally got the meeting he said he wanted as he joined President Donald Trump at a White House state dinner on Tuesday night.
The soccer superstar arrived with partner Georgina Rodriguez for the black-tie event held in honour of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
It was a rare US visit for Ronaldo and his first public appearance in the country in years. Trump made sure the room knew how much it meant to his family.

“My son is a big fan of Ronaldo,” he said. “Barron got to meet him, and I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just the fact that I introduced you.”
Earlier in the day, the two were recorded laughing as they walked through the grounds with Rodriguez beside them. The White House posted the footage with the caption “Two GOATS.”

Ronaldo had already been open about his desire to meet Trump. Speaking to Piers Morgan this month, he described the President as “one of the people who can change or help change the world.”
“That is my main objective, to meet Trump and talk about world peace,” he said.
The striker’s appearance came during a packed guest list. Elon Musk, Tim Cook, Gianni Infantino, and US vice-president JD Vance were also at the dinner. Trump praised closer ties with Saudi Arabia and called the kingdom a “major non-Nato ally.”
A White House official confirmed Ronaldo’s attendance earlier in the day but did not say whether he was part of the Crown Prince’s official delegation.
A rare visit to the US
Ronaldo has not appeared publicly in America since a 2009 sexual-assault allegation resurfaced in 2017.
He has always strongly denied the accusation, and US prosecutors later chose not to pursue charges after reopening the case.
Since then, he has skipped US-based preseason tours and exhibition games while playing for Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United, and now Al Nassr.
However, Portugal plan to face the United States in Atlanta in March 2026 ahead of the World Cup across North America.
If confirmed, it could be Ronaldo’s first match on US soil since 2014.
