Former NHL goaltender Dominik Hasek has dubbed American President Donald Trump a ‘traitor’ following his meeting with Vladimir Putin.
Trump met his Russian counterpart in Alaska last Friday in order to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
While the summit was promoted as an opportunity for dialogue, Putin’s arrival on American soil became the center of controversy.
The two presidents failed to reach an agreement, though both treated each other with warmth during the historic meeting.
Hasek, who is an an outspoken critic of Russia, blasted the summit when sharing a video on X.
The Olympic gold medallist said: “This is such a huge shame! This is how the biggest criminal of the 21st century, responsible for the death and maiming of more than a million people, is welcomed!? More than disgusting from the American president!”

In a later post, the NHL legend added: “I will never forget in my life that on August 15, 2025, American soldiers rolled out the red carpet for the greatest criminal of the 21st century.
“And on that carpet, the US President applauded the criminal with a smile, shook his hand, and walked along the carpet with him.”
One of the conclusions from the summit was the possibility of Ukraine giving up some of their territory in order to broker a deal.
That only fuelled Hasek’s anger, who later posted: “Trump has once again shown what a traitor he is.
“He can co-decide on a new NATO member, but pressuring a free state to give up its territory is the most despicable betrayal and support for terrorist Russia. Let us treat the current American president accordingly.”
Hasek faced death threat from ex Russian president
The former Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings goaltender claims he was once sent a death threat from former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
The Czechia native landed himself in hot water with the politician following his unrelenting criticism of Russia.
Medvedev accused the former NHL player of suffering from ‘Russophobia’.
In a frightening comment for news agency TASS, the former Russian president warned Hasek about crossing the street. He also told him to avoid drinking beer from ‘unverified places’.
Responding to the threats, Hasek revealed he sent letters to the International Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation about apparent death threats.
Posting on X, he said: “I inform them that former Russian President Medvedev threatened to kill me.
“Furthermore, among other things, I point out how important their decisions will be in the coming months and again offer assistance in creating rules so that sports competitions are not an advertisement for the Russian war and people do not die because of them.
“I consider both letters very important not only for the IOC and IIHF, but for the entire sports and also non-sports community. Therefore, I will publish them in a few days.”
The story reached Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, who said the threats against Hasek were ‘unacceptable’.
