Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had a surreal moment this week when he learned he was mentioned by none other than global pop star Taylor Swift.
The girlfriend of teammate Travis Kelce appeared on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights Podcast last week, breaking the internet with the announcement of her new album and name-dropping the NFL wide receiver.
The one-year pro who was drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft featured in a clip that racked up more than 18 million views on YouTube.
It showed Taylor Swift excitedly recalling the night Kansas City drafted the 22-year-old Texas alum.
Swift stated: “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house laughing and screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!'”
During her reveal of her 12th album titled Life of a Showgirl, Travis Kelce revealed that she was the first to break the news of Worthy’s draft selection to him, only deepening the disbelief for the young wide receiver.
Xavier Worthy reacted to being namedropped by Taylor Swift
The Chiefs released a video of the young prodigy in disbelief as he reacted to the pop music mega star namedropping him during team practice.
Worthy responded: “That’s crazy. I ain’t gon’ lie, she’s the biggest pop star in this generation, so it’s crazy having somebody running around the house screaming we drafted you.
“That’s tight, that’s what’s up.”
His Chiefs tight-end colleague was hyped when his world-famous girlfriend namedropped the young star on his popular podcast alongside his brother, Jason Kelce.

Was Taylor Swift right to be excited about the Kansas City Chiefs drafting Xavier Worthy?
The speedster from the University of Texas had a rookie year to be proud of and was unlucky not to cap it off with a Super Bowl win as the Chiefs fell to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The rapid wide receiver holds the record 40-yard dash of 4.21 seconds at the NFL combine and was consequently recruited by the Chiefs with their 28th pick of the 2024 Draft.
His meteoric performance in their 40-22 loss to the Eagles was one of the few highlights as he scored two touchdowns and made eight receptions for 157 yards.
His debut NFL statistics of 638 receiving yards in 59 receptions show that Swift was right to be excited by the franchise picking up the box-office rookie.
Worthy wasn’t the only NFL star to be namedropped by Taylor Swift
Swift also brought surprise to another NFL star when she mentioned Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff while describing the days when she was still learning the ropes of her boyfriend’s professional sport.
The star went as far as stating that she thought the quarterbacks played one-on-one against each other in football rather than working with their teammates.
When quizzed on the name drop, Goff admitted he was surprised and laughed off Swift’s original knowledge of the quarterback position.
The Lions and former Los Angeles Rams star claimed the unexpected mention was “very cool” and “pretty crazy.”
