Travis Kelce has taken on many roles in Kansas City, but “Kelce on the Shelfie” caught people off guard.

The Chiefs’ tight end has transformed into a claymation elf for the team’s new holiday short, “Merry Mischief,” and the early reaction makes it clear that fans are all in.

The video introduces “Kelce on the Shelfie,” a mischievous little elf who looks suspiciously like No. 87 and causes chaos at Arrowhead Stadium while the team is away for a game.

Watch the Chiefs’ hilarious holiday short

The short is part of the Chiefs’ annual Kingdom Christmas celebration and arrives with a full cast of claymation teammates.

Patrick Mahomes, Trent McDuffie, Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, and Xavier Worthy all appear in animated form, each bringing their own personality to the story.

Donna Kelce narrates the opening chapter and sets the scene with the full line: “‘Twas the month before Christmas, almost the Thanksgiving game. When the Chiefs found an elf, one that needed a name.”

In the tale, the tiny Kelce slides into his No. 87 jersey and declares himself “Kelce on a Shelfie,” quickly becoming part of the team’s holiday tradition.

Setting the scene for Christmas Day football

The short will officially premiere on December 24. A day later, the Chiefs’ Christmas Day meeting with the Denver Broncos will mark their third straight NFL appearance on December 25.

Last year, Kelce and Mahomes took the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.

“The holidays have always been about bringing people together, and there’s nothing quite like the energy in Chiefs Kingdom this time of year,” said Chiefs President Mark Donovan.

“With ‘Merry Mischief’ and a full month of holiday fun, we’re embracing everything that makes this team and this city so special.”

The short arrives during a challenging stretch for Kansas City. The team sits at 6–6, and their playoff hopes have tightened after a run of inconsistent performances.

Dropped catches, red-zone struggles, and late-game mistakes have piled up. Both Mahomes and Kelce have spoken recently about the need to sharpen things quickly.

Unfortunately for Chiefs fans, their newfound holiday spirit may be short-lived if they drop to 6-7 on December 25.
