WATCH: TODD BOWLES TELLS BUCCANEERS ROSTER TO ‘LOOK IN THE F***NG MIRROR’ POST FALCONS DEFEAT

Todd Bowles rarely raises his voice in public, but on Thursday night, the calm and controlled Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach told his players to “look in the f***ing mirror.”

The Buccs head coach let loose in an expletive-filled postgame press conference after watching his team cough up a 29–28 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, a defeat sealed by a last-second Zane Gonzalez field goal.

What followed was one of the rawest moments of Bowles’ tenure in Tampa, as frustration from a collapsing season spilled out in real time.

Todd Bowles drops all the F bombs

“It’s inexcusable,” Bowles said. “We don’t make excuses. You gotta f***ing care enough where the s*** hurts. You gotta f***ing care enough where the s*** hurts.

“Gotta f***ing mean something to you. It’s more than a job, it’s your f***ing livelihood. How well do you know your job? How well can you do your job? You can’t sugarcoat that s***.”

“And there’s no f***ing answer for it. There’s no excuse for it,” he added. “That’s what you tell them in the locker room. Look in the f***ing mirror.”

The outburst came after one of Tampa Bay’s most damaging losses of the season. The Buccaneers led by 14 points with just over 10 minutes remaining, only to watch their defense surrender three scoring drives down the stretch.

The defeat dropped Tampa Bay’s NFL record to 7–7, marking their fifth loss in seven games and their second straight home defeat, following last week’s shock loss to a Saints team that entered at 2–10.

Baker Mayfield shares disappointment

“Disappointing, obviously, but falls on my shoulders,” Quarterback Baker Mayfield said. “Can’t turn the ball over, can’t have that interception. Gotta hit [Emeka Egbuka] in stride on that third down.

“Listen, you can say what you want about being up two scores and the defense right there, but we have to be better on offense.”

He added: “It comes down to how I play. This one’s gonna haunt me. This falls on my shoulders.”

The frustration extended throughout the locker room. All-Pro tackle Tristan Wirfs did not attempt to soften the mood.

Wirfs doesn’t mix his words

“We lost to the 2–10 Saints, and we lost to, I don’t even know what Atlanta’s record is,” Wirfs said. “At home. Up two scores. That was f***ing insane. That was embarrassing.”

While Bowles has repeatedly said throughout the season that coaching improvements must come from the staff, Thursday marked a shift in emphasis.

“The coaches have done everything they can do,” Bowles said. “This is a player-driven team in the last four or five weeks. You’ve got to execute. They’ve got to hold each other accountable.”

He continued: “As a coach, you can sit there ‘til you’re blue in the face. Until they start holding each other accountable and doing the little things right, and that’s not everybody, we’re talking about a small, select few, it’s not going to get right.”

Despite the anger, Tampa Bay’s season is not finished. The Buccaneers face the Carolina Panthers next, with the two teams meeting twice in the final three weeks. Win both, and the division remains within reach.

But after back-to-back home collapses, Bowles made it clear that nothing will change unless his message lands.

“I hope everybody sits and lets it f***ing stew,” Wirfs said.
