VIKINGS STAR ISAIAH RODGERS CONDEMNS RACIST COMMENTS AFTER LOSS TO EAGLES: ‘RACISM IS REAL’

Isaiah Rodgers wanted to take responsibility for two poor plays, but he didn’t expect to be targeted with racism.

The Minnesota Vikings cornerback shared screenshots of racist messages he received after Sunday’s 28–22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, describing them as “some of the most racist comments I ever seen or read since I enter the league.”

The messages included the N-word and insults comparing him to Hitler. “That’s not even the worst I’ve seen,” Rodgers added. “Stay solid or stay silent.”

In another post, he simply said: “Racism is real.”

The abuse arrived hours after a difficult night for the 27-year-old.

Rodgers had been the defender on two major Philadelphia plays, including a 79-yard touchdown to DeVonta Smith and a long fourth-quarter completion to A.J. Brown.

He faced reporters afterward and didn’t deflect blame. “I put it on me,” he said. “I came here for a reason, and those type of plays I know I can make. So, I put it on me.”

By Monday morning, the focus had shifted from football to something far uglier. Rodgers posted the messages on social media, where they quickly drew widespread condemnation.

Vikings back Isaiah Rodgers

The Vikings released a statement supporting their player. “We are disgusted by the racial slurs directed at Isaiah Rodgers following yesterday’s game,” the team said.

“There simply is no room for racist words or actions in sports or society. We support Isaiah and all players who experience this type of ignorant behavior far too often.”

Rodgers joined the Vikings this offseason on a two-year deal after a standout stretch with the Indianapolis Colts. His arrival was meant to bolster Minnesota’s secondary. Instead, his week became defined by something no player should have to face.

Just a week earlier, Rodgers had announced his engagement to fiancée Genie Gabrielle.

The Minnesota Vikings are back in action on Thursday Night Football when they face the Las Vegas Chargers.
