Travis Kelce’s family is in mourning following the death of Maureen Maguire, the long-time partner of Ed Kelce.
Ed, the father of Jason and Travis Kelce’s confirmed the news by sharing Maguire’s obituary on Facebook earlier this week. She died on Friday at the age of 74.
Fans quickly offered condolences to the family online. Many also shared memories and photos, including one showing Maguire standing with Ed Kelce and Taylor Swift.
The picture was taken at a Kansas City Chiefs game, with all three wearing team merch. Swift holds a card and what appears to be a friendship bracelet.
Maguire met Swift during the 2023 NFL season, when Travis Kelce’s relationship with the singer brought new attention to the Kelce family. One light-hearted moment from that meeting has resurfaced in the days since her passing.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times in early 2024, Ed Kelce recalled taking a photo with Swift after a game. Maguire was nearby and cracked a joke: “Hey, that’s my boyfriend,” she said, drawing a laugh from the singer.
Another story from that period has also resurfaced in tribute. Ed once admitted that he didn’t recognise Swift when she first walked into his home. Maguire quickly stepped in, turning to him and saying, “This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.” It was a small moment, but one that captured her dry humour and presence.
Maguire’s obituary, published by Stretch Funeral Home, described her as someone who found unexpected joy in football later in life.
It noted that she shared “many laughs and adventures” with Ed and their dog Butch, embracing travel, concerts, and football games as part of her day-to-day life.
She became a regular presence in Ed’s life during a time when both Kelce brothers were rising figures in American sports. Their relationship remained mostly private, though the few public glimpses offered fans a warm and humorous view of their bond.
In recent days, one image in particular has drawn attention. Fans have widely shared the photo of Maguire, Swift and Ed Kelce smiling together in Chiefs colours, seeing it as a small but touching reminder of her place in the Kelce family story.
The Kelce family has not yet announced funeral arrangements or released any formal statement regarding Maureen’s death.
