Travis Kelce had a night to forget as the Kansas City Chiefs kicked off their NFL campaign with a defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers.
After hitting the headlines throughout the off-season, Kelce returned to action this weekend in what proved to be a woeful occasion.
The 35-year-old and his teammates travelled to Sao Paulo, Brazil, looking to kick off their new season with a win.
Instead, the day was filled with disappointments and frustrations as the Chargers came out on top, winning the match 27-21.
Where was Taylor Swift?
One of the biggest talking points ahead of the game was the obvious omission of Taylor Swift.
Kelce’s superstar fiancée refused to attend the season opener due to security demands, logistical hurdles and general practical considerations.
The public reaction in Sao Paulo was one of disappointment, with many expecting the singer to make an appearance.
Despite missing the opening game, a source told Page Six that Swift still plans to attend as many Chiefs matches as possible.

One of the most shocking moments during the game took place late in the third quarter.
Kelce let frustrations get the better of him when confronting teammate Jawaan Taylor over his continuous errors.
Taylor was flagged multiple times during the match, leading Kelce to deliver a helmet-to-helmet push. The moment was caught by the TV cameras.
Kelce takes out teammate
Kelce’s frustrations not only stemmed from Taylor’s poor performance, but also his own.
Earlier in the game, the star man was involved in a shock collision with teammate Xavier Worthy.
The rookie wide receiver was running an under route, when he was inadvertently taken out by Kelce.
Worthy was later seen walking back to the changing rooms with a towel draped over his head.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed the player would undergo an MRI upon their return to Kansas.

If all that wasn’t enough, Kelce was also involved in a confrontation with Los Angeles Chargers beast Teair Tart.
The two men came to blows in the third quarter after the Chiefs tight end blocked a drive for his team.
Tart was not happy with Kelce’s actions, and gave him an open-handed clap across the helmet.
The 315lbs defensive tackle was able to remain on the field. Had he punched Kelce with a clenched fist, he would have been removed.
