The Chiefs’ documentary The Kingdom has revealed how Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones reacted when Taylor Swift attended her first game to support Travis Kelce.
Episode 3, titled “In Our Chiefs Era,” takes viewers inside that Week 3 meeting with the Chicago Bears.
It begins with teammates talking about Kelce before shifting to his headline-making relationship. “Travis Kelce is probably one of the dopest people I’ve met in my life,” cornerback Trent McDuffie said.
Patrick Mahomes added: “I think more than anything is he’s a good person. And just someone that even though you have fame coming your way, you still have to be the true person that you are. And he does everything the right way, and you understand why his teammates love him.”
Defensive lineman Chris Jones then delivered one of the episode’s most memorable moments. “Travis Kelce, he’s like the soul of the team. Has the moves. Suave, yeah, Travis has it all. And Taylor Swift,” he said.
Later, recalling the day she showed up, Jones laughed: “You know the locker room. Taylor Swift? Taylor Swift, for real? Travis, oh my God. We’re like, ‘Oh my God. Travis pulled Taylor Swift.’”
Mahomes revealed Kelce had mentioned it earlier in the week, but he remained unsure. “It was like one of those I gotta see it until I believe it. You definitely felt a buzz. And you could see people in the stadium, like, gravitating towards where she was at there. But at the same time, we have business to handle.”
The front office was just as surprised. Chiefs media and marketing chief Lara Krug recalled team president Mark Donovan calling to say Swift would be there.
“I remember getting off the phone and looking out the window, being like, ‘Huh, that’s a big deal,’” she said. Asking Donovan if it was normal, she got the reply: “No, Lara, this is not normal.”
The Kingdom also touches on Swift’s wider impact. Krug said the fanbase has shifted from a 50-50 split to 57% female.
ESPN’s Mina Kimes called it a “turbocharged” demographic change. Swift’s later appearances, including her embrace with Brittany Mahomes after the AFC Championship Game, underline how firmly she is now part of Chiefs Kingdom.
