Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has been fined just over $46,000 for unnecessary roughness in the Week 2 clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles are on a perfect run in the NFL in 2025. They are one of six teams across the league to have won every game so far.
They’ve seen off some stiff opposition in the Dallas Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs and, most recently, the LA Rams.
But prior to the victory over the Rams, running back Barkley was forced by the NFL to pay a $46,371 fine, for a hit on Chiefs defender Chamarri Conner in Week 2.
Barkley dipped his head into Conner, who attempted to tackle the oncoming running back, and the top of his helmet made contact with Conner’s before glancing onto his shoulder.

While no flag was called on the play, Barkley has subsequently been fined. Indeed, it is almost always the case that unnecessary roughness is met with a fine, and helmet-first contact comes under that.
As such, prior to the Week 3 clash with the Rams, Barkley was forced to cough up.
In the same game against the Chiefs, Travis Kelce was fined $14,491 for making an obscene gesture after a catch.
Neither man will lose much sleep over their fines, with Barkley on a $41million contract and Kelce’s $34.25million.
Barkley had a quiet game against the Rams following his fine, though, making only 46 yards on 18 carries, along with nine receiving yards from four receptions.
But it didn’t matter for the Eagles, who saw off the Rams in a 33-26 victory. They next travel to Tampa Bay to face the Buccaneers, another of the teams with a perfect record currently.
