JIMMIE WARD ARRESTED AGAIN AS TEXANS SAFETY FACES FRESH LEGAL TROUBLE

Police arrested Texans safety Jimmie Ward for the second time in three months.

Jail records show officers booked him in Montgomery County on Thursday evening.

Authorities have not said what led to this arrest. In June, police took Ward into custody at 5:30 a.m. after an incident at his Magnolia home.

He was accused of choking a woman and threatening to kill her.

Jail records from that morning list a third-degree felony family assault charge, with allegations of impeding breathing.

The woman later filed for an emergency protective order. Ward is due in court later this month.

Efforts to reach his attorney, Steve Jackson, on Thursday night were unsuccessful.

Jackson previously said Ward was not involved in the June incident and expected his client to be vindicated.

The team addressed the June arrest in a short statement. “We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward,” Texans senior director of communications Omar Majzoub told the Houston Chronicle.

“We are gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

Ward, 33, remains on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from a foot injury that ended his 2024 season.

He has been inside the Texans’ facility during training camp to continue his rehab. The team says it has spoken with the NFL about his situation and will let the legal process play out.

Ward spent most of his career with the San Francisco 49ers after they drafted him in the first round in 2014.

He played in the 2020 and 2024 Super Bowls, both losses to the Kansas City Chiefs. He joined the Texans in 2023 on a two-year, $10.5 million contract, later extended by a year in 2024.

In his first season with Houston, Ward appeared in 10 games. He recorded 48 tackles and two interceptions before foot surgery cut his campaign short.

With two arrests in three months, his playing future and his spot on the Texans roster now look uncertain.

Houston begins its pre-season on Saturday, August 9, with a trip to face the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Texans return home the following week to host the Carolina Panthers on August 16 at NRG Stadium. They close pre-season away to the Detroit Lions on August 23.

The regular season starts on the road against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, September 7. Kick-off is set for 3:25 p.m. CDT.
