Jason Kelce marked his brother’s engagement in style, delivering a heartfelt congratulations on New Heights and calling it “the proposal heard ’round the world.”
Speaking on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, the Philadelphia Eagles legend quickly offered his congratulations. The couple had confirmed their engagement in a joint Instagram post on August 26, and Jason wanted to make sure the moment was recognised on air.
Swift captioned the announcement with a nod to her 2024 track So High School, writing: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Jason opened the podcast by addressing the moment directly. “Gigantic piece of ‘New News’ that just hit the waves,” he said.
“We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis’ one day off. So, he is not here to address this himself, but we felt it necessary as a team here at New Heights to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged! The proposal heard ‘round the world.”
As the episode continued, Jason shifted to Swift’s recent guest appearance on the show. That interview earlier this month drew record numbers, and it gave fans an insight into the couple’s relationship. For Jason, though, one line in particular stood out.
Jason’s nicknames for Travis
“I took away a lot from the interview,” he explained. “She’s incredibly brilliant, she’s very smart, she’s very funny, all of these things. But the one thing I really took away, and it was highlighted by a lot of people out there, is that I try to describe you to people a lot of the time.
“Nobody knows Travis Kelce and dislikes him.
“He is the epitome of a great teammate, and there’s just a way about you that you’ve always been a magnetic human being, and you’ve gotten the best out of people and all this stuff. And when she said you were a human exclamation point, I was like, ‘Goddamn.’ Like, she is f—ing good with words.”
Jason admitted the description was better than any nickname his brother has ever had. “That is such a great way to describe Travis Kelce. That might be better than Big Yeti, the human exclamation point. That’s my new nickname for Travis Kelce. Stealing that one.”
Finally, he praised Swift’s openness during the episode. “It was incredible for her to feel that comfortable to be on the show,” he said. “Authentic and transparent.”
