A grand jury cleared Isaiah Bond of the sexual assault charge that overshadowed his NFL draft hopes earlier this year.
The 21-year-old wide receiver can now focus on restarting his career and has set his sights on the Cleveland Browns.
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis confirmed the decision on Thursday after a grand jury reviewed the evidence.
“After reviewing all the evidence presented, a Collin County grand jury returned a ‘no bill’ in the sexual assault charge involving Isaiah Bond, meaning no indictment will be issued. This concludes the criminal proceedings in this matter.”
Bond’s arrest came in April when he turned himself in to Frisco police on a sexual assault warrant.
He posted a $25,000 bond the same day. Days later, his legal team filed a federal lawsuit against the woman who accused him, stating the encounter was consensual. The court dismissed that case with prejudice in July.
“First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Cleveland Browns for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to continue my career in the NFL,” Bond wrote in a statement.
“There have been questions and reports about the recent allegations. I am grateful for the decision of the prosecutor and the courts not to pursue charges. I will learn from this experience as I grow in wisdom, character and faith.
“On the advice of my attorney, I will not discuss the details of this case, but I want to be clear: From the very beginning, I have refuted these allegations and maintained my innocence. I stand firm by that today.”
Bond entered the draft as a projected second-round pick but went undrafted after the April arrest. His three-year college career produced 99 catches for 1,428 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns.
He played two seasons at Alabama before transferring to Texas, where an ankle injury hampered his 2024 season but he still scored six total touchdowns.
The Browns are still completing their internal review before finalising any deal. If signed, Bond will compete for a roster spot in training camp, aiming to turn a turbulent year into the start of a successful NFL career.
