A father has publicly criticised Cardi B after the rapper used explicit language while reacting to a viral NFL prediction made by his four-year-old daughter.
Anthony Donatelli, a content creator and radio host, responded after a clip from Cardi B’s Instagram Live circulated online, showing her swearing while referencing a young Patriots fan. The moment came during celebrations following New England’s playoff success.
Viral clip sparks response
The clip showed Cardi B reacting to a video involving Donatelli’s daughter, Reese, who features in his “Trust the Toddler” series. The videos show Reese randomly picking NFL teams, often based on colours or personal preferences rather than analysis.
“That little white girl said we weren’t going to win. F–k that bitch! I told y’all,” Cardi said in the clip. She then immediately apologised, adding: “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to say that.”
Cardi did not name Reese directly during the livestream.
Donatelli later shared a screenshot of his response on social media, making clear why he felt compelled to speak out.
“That’s my daughter… She’s 4 years old,” he wrote. “This is a lighthearted, family-friendly video where she randomly picks football helmets. Please don’t direct profanity toward a child.”
‘Trust the Toddler’ explained
Reese’s predictions have become popular online, largely because of their randomness. Donatelli has repeatedly stressed that the videos are meant to be harmless fun.
“She’s obviously not an NFL analyst,” Donatelli said in a later interview.
“She’s picking teams based on the color of her dress, or she’ll pick the Packers because she likes cheese. She just relates these silly little things as reasons why she picks certain teams.”
Donatelli added that the attention around the videos has sometimes crossed a line. He revealed that his family received death threats earlier in the 2025 season over Reese’s football picks.
“It’s nuts,” he said.
Patriots context and fallout
Cardi B’s reaction came after Reese had previously picked against the New England Patriots during the playoffs. The Patriots went on to beat the Denver Broncos 10–7 in snowy conditions to reach the Super Bowl.
Cardi B, who is dating Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, celebrated on the field after the AFC Championship win. Donatelli later joked online that “the curse has been reversed” after New England’s earlier divisional round victory.
Despite the attention, Donatelli said he has no interest in escalating the situation.
“I’m not here to fight fire with fire. I’m not angry,” he said. “We don’t want anybody or anything to ruin what Reese and I have created and how we bond.”
