Host of ESPN’s flagship sports debate program First Take, Monica McNutt, made an embarrassing mistake during the live taping of the show.
The 35-year-old presenter was filling in for regular host Molly Querim during Friday’s edition of the program.
McNutt was working alongside veteran broadcaster Stephen A. Smith as the pair welcomed comedian Druski onto the show.
The 30-year-old comic arrived on the set sporting the jersey of Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders.
However, as Druski joined the show, McNutt thought he was rocking the jersey of Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders.
She said: “Well, it’s a blast to have you here. Thank you so much for joining us. So, the jersey. Let’s get into it, because obviously this ties to one Shedeur Sanders who balled out in his first preseason game.”
Druski was quick to react, with the comedian correcting the host: “No, no, no, no, no, this is Barry Sanders.”
McNutt acknowledged the error, saying: “I’m sorry, I apologize. Barry Sanders.”
ESPN host, Monica McNutt thought @druski’s was wearing a Shedeur Sanders jersey. It’s clearly a Barry Sanders jersey

Host ridiculed for rookie error
Errors are part of broadcasting, especially during live tapings. What’s more, McNutt is not an authority on the NFL, with her usual role being centered around basketball.
Nevertheless, McNutt had to face stern feedback online for her mistake.
Dave Portnoy, for instance, picked up on the gaffe and was quick to share his blunt opinion. The CEO of Barstool said: “This is next level stupid here.”
While Qerim remains out for First Take as she enjoys her vacation, ESPN decided to have a different guest host on Monday. McNutt, meanwhile, did not appear on the program.
It is unknown whether the American presented simply wasn’t scheduled or if that was a response to her on-air slip.
