Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson have filed a gold digger trademark, turning criticism of their relationship into a business move. They plan to use it on jewelry and key chain products.
The University of North Carolina head coach and his girlfriend, who is nearly 50 years younger, have faced scrutiny since going public in 2024. The age gap has drawn plenty of attention. Bill Belichick choosing to trademark “Gold Digger” shows they are not just aware of the chatter, but willing to cash in on it.
Belichick, 73, and Hudson, 24, have been busy on the business front this year. Records show they have filed for a string of other marks, including “Chapel Bill,” “Belestrator,” “Trail of Salty Tears,” “No Days Off,” and “The Belichick Way.” Some highlight his six-time Super Bowl-winning career with the New England Patriots. Others appear to be tongue-in-cheek nods to his reputation.
Hudson manages the company behind the filings and has built a portfolio of her own. In late 2023 she spent more than $7 million on Boston real estate, adding a Cape Cod cottage soon after. She has also stepped in as Belichick’s personal manager, taking a lead role in his off-field ventures.
That influence was clear earlier this year during Belichick’s CBS interview to promote his book. Hudson interrupted to deflect questions about their relationship, a move that raised eyebrows among fans and former Patriots players.
Her profile has only grown since, with reports of tensions with Belichick’s ex-girlfriend, Linda Holliday, and with Nantucket’s social circles.
Despite the noise, the couple seem happy to take ownership of the “gold digger” tag. Filing it as a trademark turns a common insult into branding. It also keeps their relationship, and the reaction around it, directly tied to their business.
Belichick is now preparing for his first season at UNC after leaving the Patriots in 2023.
