Simone Biles says there is “no shame” in being open about her breast enlargement surgery, explaining why she chose to have the surgery with fans.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Biles said she wanted to be transparent because young women often see only perfection online. “Social media is not real, so that’s why I try to be as transparent as possible,” she said.
The discussion started after Biles posted a TikTok asking followers to guess the procedures she had done. She later confirmed she has undergone three surgeries so far.
Two of them, she explained, were things most people wouldn’t notice. “I got a lower bleph because me and my family have, I call it the ‘Biles eye bags,’” she said.
Photographers often tried to hide the hereditary bags during shoots, which pushed her to finally address them.
The second procedure was an earlobe repair after an earring was torn out when she was a child.

Biles said the breast augmentation was the only visible surgery, but stressed it wasn’t driven by insecurity. “Okay, obviously you can notice the breasts,” she said.
“It’s just feeling good about yourself and loving yourself, and I’ve always been very vocal about that,” she added. She made clear she didn’t dislike her appearance beforehand.
“It’s just something that I notice obviously a little bit more because I live in this body,” she said.
Biles hopes her honesty gives younger girls more confidence in their own choices. “It shows young girls that they have the right to their own choices, whatever they are, and that’s no shame added as well,” she said.
She also spoke about a cosmetic misstep. Biles tried Botox on her 27th birthday and quickly regretted it.
“I didn’t like it because I had a floating eyebrow and everyone was asking what that was,” she said. Sharing that experience, she added, mattered just as much as sharing what went well.
“As long as you love yourself, that’s really all that matters,” she said.
