The internet decided weeks ago that Trevor Lawrence should be rocking a grill. Naturally, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to make it real.
After an AI-generated image of the Jaguars quarterback wearing a grill and gold chain went viral across social media, Lawrence’s teammates turned the joke into a locker-room moment that felt very on brand for a team enjoying itself.
The timing helped. Jacksonville had just wrapped up the AFC South title, spirits were high, and the meme simply refused to die.
AI meme took over Jaguars’ socials
The image started doing the rounds in December. An AI version of the NFL quarterback, iced out and smiling, spread across X and Instagram and quickly became a running joke.
Rather than ignore it, the Jacksonville Jaguars leaned in. Teammates were shown the image in the locker room, laughed, and openly wondered what Lawrence would look like if the meme became reality.
One player said he wanted to see it “for real.” Another suggested it could be Lawrence’s personality going forward. At that point, the idea had clearly gone too far to stop.
Teammates turn the joke into reality
After Jacksonville’s title-clinching win over the Titans, cornerback Jarrian Jones stepped forward with a small jewellery box and a straight face.
“We know there’s a meme that’s kinda going viral, so we got you your own grill,” Jones told Lawrence.
Lawrence’s response said everything. He threw his arms in the air, yelled “Yes!” and immediately played along as the locker room erupted. The grill came out, went straight in, and the smile was instant.
The Jaguars later leaned even harder into it, using the photo as their Instagram profile picture. At that point, there was no walking it back.
Lawrence reveals his wife’s secret role
The best detail came later. Speaking to reporters, Lawrence confirmed the grill was not just a novelty prop.
“Yeah, I don’t know if you guys saw, I got a grill,” he said, smiling.
“There’s been some pictures going around for the last month or so. It was pretty funny, and people kept asking when I was going to get one.
“I didn’t plan on getting one, but some guys from the team, and then my wife, I think somehow she was involved with getting my teeth measurements, made it happen,” Lawrence said.
“It fit perfectly, so something’s going on there.”
