It was already a career-defining night for Bandido, but the AEW star walked away with more than gold after his latest triumph, as Tony Khan presented him with a personal gift.
On August 24, Bandido and Brody King stunned the crowd at London’s O2 Arena by capturing the AEW World Tag Team Titles. The duo only formed earlier this summer, yet they toppled FTR and The Hurt Syndicate in a no-disqualification thriller at Forbidden Door.
After the show, attention shifted from the ring to the press conference. That’s where AEW boss Tony Khan stepped in with an unexpected gesture that immediately went viral.
Khan produced a Fulham jersey signed by Raul Jimenez, fresh from the striker’s Premier League outing earlier that day. Fulham had drawn 1-1 with Manchester United at Craven Cottage, and Jiménez made sure his name was on the shirt before it found its way to the wrestler.
Bandido’s reaction said it all. “Thank you Raul,” he shouted, holding the shirt aloft before proudly adding: “And thank you Fulham!”
The moment spread across social media within minutes. One fan post read: “Tony Khan just gifted Bandido a signed Raul Jimenez Fulham shirt from today’s Premier League match. Bandido was legit surprised, this is so awesome.”
The gesture carried extra weight given the Mexican roots of both Bandido and Jimenez. Jimenez is Mexico’s all-time leading scorer with 42 goals, while Bandido has become one of AEW’s most popular luchadores.
Khan’s Premier League ties made the crossover possible. Alongside running AEW, he works as vice-chairman and director of football operations at Fulham. He is also chief football strategy officer for the Jacksonville Jaguars, part of his family’s vast sporting empire.
For Bandido, the jersey capped a whirlwind evening. Brodido, as the new champions are now known, ended The Hurt Syndicate’s 214-day reign and claimed their first AEW gold together.
It was a night of milestones, but the gift from Khan gave it a personal touch. For Bandido, celebrating a career win while clutching a signed jersey from Mexico’s greatest goalscorer made the victory even sweeter.
