DISGRACED NBA STAR ISSUES DONALD TRUMP PLEA AS PRISON SENTENCE BEGINS

Sebastian Telfair, a former high school basketball star who launched straight into the NBA, has begun a six-month jail sentence at a federal prison in New Jersey.

Just days ago, the multi-NBA franchise veteran publicly pleaded for a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.

Now, the 40-year-old who represented nine different NBA teams from 2004 to 2014 is being housed at a low-security Fort Dix Correctional Institution after violating the terms of a previous fraud conviction.

And that’s not all for the disgraced hoop talent; once released, Telfair will face strict conditions, including refraining from drugs and alcohol.

The point guard who played in the USA and China will also have a mandatory finance course.

To top the requirements off, Telfair will have to write a letter to the court highlighting his learnings from the ordeal.

Sebastian Telfair jailed after violating probation terms

Sebastian Telfair’s legal struggles started in 2023, six years after his basketball retirement, when he was found guilty of conspiracy to commit health care fraud.

He was one of 18 disgraced former NBA athletes who were accused of defrauding the league’s health and welfare benefit plan.

The scandal reportedly cost the NBA $4million.

At the time, Telfair was sentenced to three years of probation and heavy community service.

Recently, a judge ordered Telfair to report to prison on August 12 after he violated his probation terms, reportedly missing community service commitments.

The basketball star who skipped college entirely was livid when speaking to TMZ the day before his prison stint: “I’m mad – I don’t want to be doing any federal time.”

He maintained his innocence: “This whole case is bullsh*t, no disrespect to the system.”

Telfair added: “This was NBA money, my money! I earned it on the court, and now I’ve got to pay it back to the system? That’s mind-blowing to me.”

He argued that the healthcare fund belonged to the players and that he shouldn’t face federal charges.

Telfair believes NBA matters should be dealt with by the league internally.

The 2004 Mr. Basketball USA (ESPN rookie of the year) claimed he’d been dealt with “super unfairly” by the justice system.

Former NBA star begs Donald Trump to keep him home

Telfair has a three-year-old child at home and made an emotional last-ditch public plea to President Donald Trump to intervene in his prison stint.

He pleaded on TMZ: “I know Donald Trump got some big things on right now.

“Donald Trump might need to come holler and give your boy a pardon so I can stay home with my babies and continue building my community.”

Once one of the most highly-rated NBA prospects, drafted in the first round straight out of high school by the Portland Trail Blazers, Telfair had an enduring elite basketball career.

Having been one of the sport’s brightest prodigies, Telfair will now need to serve his sentence and deal with his next setback, off the court.
