WATCH: RONNIE COLEMAN MAKES SHOCK GYM RETURN AFTER NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

Eight-time Mr. Olympia winner Ronnie Coleman has shocked his fans after posting a workout video just weeks after a serious health scare.

The bodybuilding icon was hospitalized with a life-threatening case of sepsis last July, but he has since managed to make a full recovery.

While most normal people would take a cautious approach after a medical episode of that nature, Coleman decided to do the opposite and hit the gym.

The 61-year-old can be seen lifting light-sized dumbbells in his latest video, which he shared with his 12 million Instagram followers.

“Slowly getting back into training since my Sepsis attack,” said Coleman.

“Yeah Buddy, now when I say lightweight baby. You can bet your last dollar that it is lightweight for real. It’s all good though because one day soon I’ll be back to my old self lighting my old weights.”

Coleman set to raise sepsis awareness

Regarded as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time, Coleman is now hoping to use his popularity in order to spread the word about sepsis.

He said: “Like me, people don’t even know what sepsis is until it’s too late.

“That’s why I’ve decided to support the Sepsis Alliance and I’m asking you to stand with me in a running, strong, movement.”

There have been other high-profile cases of sepsis in the sports world over recent years.

Alex Smith, for instance, developed an aggressive infection that led to sepsis back in November 2018. The NFL quarterback was forced to go through a total of 17 surgeries before returning to action.

In more recent times, former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams died at the young age of 36.

A medical examiner ruled that his death in September 2023 was caused by bacterial sepsis.
