Court records show that Christian Barmore faces a domestic assault and battery charge over an alleged incident at his Massachusetts home.
The New England Patriots defensive tackle faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a family or household member. The case relates to an alleged incident on August 8 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Court documents show the complaint was filed in Attleboro District Court on December 16. The charge surfaced publicly this week.
The development comes one day after reports confirmed that teammate Stefon Diggs is also facing assault allegations, placing the Patriots under renewed legal and public scrutiny.
Court complaint outlines alleged incident
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged incident followed an argument between Barmore and his then-girlfriend at his Mansfield home.
Police records state the disagreement began over the temperature of an air conditioner before escalating later that day. The complaint alleges that Barmore questioned why the woman was eating food from his room as she prepared to leave the property.
The filing says Barmore disconnected a phone call she was making to her mother and later grabbed her as she attempted to leave the home.
The woman told police that Barmore threw her to the ground and stopped her from standing by grabbing her shirt “in the area of the neck.”
Court records state that she later left the home with her daughter using a car service arranged by the Patriots.
Legal timeline and team response
Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on February 3. His attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
The Patriots confirmed they were aware of the matter and had informed the NFL.
“The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner,” the team said.
“The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, and cooperate fully with the league.”
The NFL also acknowledged the situation and said it had been in contact with the club.
Vrabel addresses player availability
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the allegations on Wednesday.
“I haven’t heard anything that would keep either player from the game,” Vrabel said. “I’m disappointed.”
Barmore has appeared in all 16 games for New England this season. The team now enters the final stretch of the campaign with multiple legal matters unfolding away from the field.
