LAMAR ODOM CHECKS INTO REHAB AFTER DUI AS LONG RECOVERY BATTLE CONTINUES

Lamar Odom has checked into rehab following his recent DUI arrest, returning to treatment as he continues a long and very public battle with addiction.

The former NBA champion has entered a 30-day program in Los Angeles, a decision that comes just weeks after he was arrested on multiple traffic-related charges.

It marks another serious moment of reflection for Odom, whose struggles with substance abuse have repeatedly intersected with his life after basketball.

Those close to him say the move was deliberate and proactive, rather than reactive, as Odom looks to prevent a deeper relapse.

Decision to seek treatment

Odom’s manager, Gina Rodriguez, confirmed the news on Thursday, telling PEOPLE that Odom enrolled at iRely Recovery in Los Angeles to specifically address marijuana use, which he fears could open the door to more dangerous substances.

“After a recent incident, he took a step back to reflect and address triggers he’s been dealing with,” Rodriguez said, adding that Odom made the “personal decision” to enter treatment to “reset and focus on his health.”

She said Odom is taking “full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his wellbeing.”

“Lamar is grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way,” Rodriguez added.

The program takes a holistic approach to recovery, with treatment plans focused on physical, emotional and mental health, alongside ongoing aftercare support.

Arrest followed weeks earlier

Odom’s return to rehab follows his DUI arrest in the early hours of Saturday, January 17.

Police charged Odom with driving under the influence, along with two traffic violations, including driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and failing to maintain his lane. Court records show the court released Odom on his own recognizance later that day.

Police sources told TMZ that Odom’s car “reeked of weed” when officers pulled him over and that he admitted to smoking earlier in the day.

The incident raised renewed concern among fans who have followed Odom’s recovery journey closely in recent years.

Odom’s battle with addiction

Police previously arrested Odom for DUI in California in 2013, a case that resulted in probation, fines, and a court-mandated alcohol education program. Shortly after that arrest, Odom entered a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.

Two years later, in 2015, Odom nearly died after suffering a catastrophic overdose involving cocaine, alcohol and cannabis at a Las Vegas brothel. He spent days in a coma and required extensive medical treatment to survive.
