Golf superstar Rory McIlroy shared an emotional embrace with his wife Erica Stoll and daughter Poppy after winning the Irish Open on Sunday.
The world number two managed to beat Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren on the third playoff hole to secure his second title at The K Club.
Since winning the Masters earlier this year, McIlroy has been rather quiet on the PGA Tour.
However, he is now appearing to hit form, just in-time for the upcoming Ryder Cup at the Bethpage Black Course in New York.
“To do what I did earlier in the year and then to come home and win my national open, no matter what happens for the rest of the year, that’s a pretty cool year,” McIlroy told Sky Sports.
“2025 is going to go down as one of the best, if not the best of my career.
“As I said, we’re not finished yet. I’ve got a big week next week at Wentworth and then obviously everyone’s looking forward to the Ryder Cup.
“I’m just so happy my game’s in good shape. I feel like I’m playing well and I’m excited for what’s coming up.”

McIlroy shared a heartfelt moment with his wife after sealing his fourth title of the year.
The couple reconciled their marriage after McIlroy filed for a divorce in May 2024.
At the time, the Northern Irishman claimed that his relationship with his wife was ‘irretrievably broken’.
Just a month later, the 36-year-old voluntarily withdrew the divorce case. McIlroy publicly stated that they had ‘resolved’ their differences and planned a future together for the sake of their family.
The ordeal was documented in a recent Netflix series ‘Full Swing’. Reflecting on the whole process and his family issues, McIlroy revealed that everything worked out for the best.
