The world’s biggest illegal sports streaming website – popular with UFC, boxing and wrestling fans – has been shut down.
Two men were arrested in Egypt during a raid conducted by the country’s law enforcement officials.
These latest arrests have led the website to a complete shut down, marking a huge win for the authorities.
The investigation into Streameast has been ongoing since 2024, with the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) leading the charge against the black market giant.
Charles Rivkin, who chairman of ACE, hailed the news as ‘landmark’ moment for sports and entertainment organisations.
He told The Athletic: “ACE scored a resounding victory in its fight to detect, deter, and dismantle criminal perpetrators of digital piracy: by taking down the largest illegal live sports platform anywhere.
“With this landmark action, we have put more points on the board for sports leagues, entertainment companies, and fans worldwide — and our global alliance will stay on the field as long as it takes to identify and target the biggest piracy rings across the globe.”
Illegal operation linked to UAE
According to reports, the two arrested men were detained on suspicion of copyright infringement.
Upon their arrest in Sheikh Zayed City, the authorities seized laptops and phones.
The Athletic report that the investigation uncovered links between Streameast and a shell company in the United Arab Emirates.
Money was allegedly laundred, with advertising revenue from the website totalling as much as $6million. Real estate properties in Egypt were also reportedly purchased with the money.
Monthly viewing figures on Streameast were as high as 130 million, with the website providing streams of NFL, NBA, MLB, Formula One, boxing and MMA events.
