GERVONTA DAVIS ARRESTED WEEKS AFTER WARRANT ISSUED OVER ALLEGED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Gervonta Davis is in police custody after being arrested in Florida, more than two weeks after authorities issued a warrant in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident.

A spokesperson for the Miami Gardens Police Department confirmed Davis was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Police had previously said they were working with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate the unbeaten boxer.

Details surrounding how Davis was found have not been disclosed.

Arrest follows January warrant

Authorities announced on January 14 that a warrant had been issued for Davis on three charges: battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping.

Police said the charges stem from an alleged incident involving a woman at a Miami-area gentlemen’s club in late October. The woman, who police have not publicly identified, reported the incident two days later.

According to investigators, the woman claimed she had been in an intimate relationship with Davis for approximately five months prior to the alleged altercation.

She told police that Davis approached her while she was working at the venue and accused him of grabbing her by the back of the head and throat before escorting her down a stairway toward a parking garage.

The woman said Davis released her once they reached the parking area, allowing her to run back toward co-workers for safety.

Police cite video evidence

Miami Gardens Police said the lead detective reviewed video footage related to the incident.

In a statement issued earlier this month, the department said the footage “corroborates key elements of the victim’s statements.”

The woman also filed a civil lawsuit against Davis on Halloween over the same alleged incident.

Davis has not publicly commented on the allegations. No plea has been entered, and the case remains in its early stages.

Career impact already felt

The situation has already affected Davis’ boxing schedule. A planned fight against Jake Paul, which had been set for November, was cancelled after the allegations became public.

Paul and Most Valuable Promotions confirmed at the time that the bout would not go ahead.

Davis, 31, holds the WBA lightweight title and remains unbeaten as a professional. He has been one of boxing’s biggest draws in recent years, with multiple high-profile fights and pay-per-view appearances.
