The backlash is continuing from the Team USA fans’ reactions at the Ryder Cup, with an account being deleted after posting a video in which Rory McIlroy was called a homosexual slur.
Team Europe was not given the best welcome to Bethpage Black in New York for the Ryder Cup. At almost every hole, US fans were berating them, and World No.2 McIlroy took the brunt.
The Northern Irishman doesn’t think players should “ever accept” the treatment he got as his team won 15-13.
At one point, McIlroy’s wife Erica was hit by a beer which was thrown by Team USA fans on Saturday, and footage has emerged of another incident.
In it, somebody behind the camera is heard shouting: “Rory. Hey you little f***ot.”
McIlroy turned, laughed for a second, and then ushered a security guard over, saying: “Kick him out.”
When the spectator repeatedlt asked why, McIlroy responded: “For calling me a f***ot.”
Imagine not only thinking this is acceptable behavior but also then posting it online. Pretty gross. pic.twitter.com/z3THbr7bUT

The post has been shared on X and Tiktok, from a screen recording of an Instagram account which curiously no longer exists.
It suggests that the person recording the video then posted it on their own social media, before getting backlash and deactivating their account.
A golf account reacted on X, saying: ‘Imagine not only thinking this is acceptable behavior but also then posting it online. Pretty gross.’
