CRISTIANO RONALDO OPENS UP TO PIERS MORGAN ON ‘DIFFICULT PERIOD’ WITH GEORGINA RODRIGUEZ

Cristiano Ronaldo has told Piers Morgan about the heartbreak that shaped his relationship with fiancée Georgina Rodríguez.

The Portugal legend spoke candidly to Piers Morgan about family, loss, and love in an emotional new interview.

Ronaldo reflected on what he called a “difficult period” in his life, describing how tragedy brought his family closer together.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s difficult period

“Probably in that period we consolidated the relationship more,” Ronaldo told Morgan. “It was a difficult period, but it was nice because I learned so many things.”

The 40-year-old said the loss of his baby son in 2022 gave him a new perspective on life and deepened his bond with Georgina.

“I saw another perspective of life,” he said. “My daughter, who is now three years old, the queen of the family, who makes the house happy. Everything happens for a reason. We are a blessed family. I’m proud of that.”

Ronaldo described Georgina as the “love of my life,” explaining that her strength and compassion have been at the centre of their relationship.

“Gio is unique,” he said. “She takes care of me, which is very important. She takes care of the family, of the house, which takes a lot of work. If you want to be the opposite, I will not deal with that; men cannot deal with that, honest.”

“She’s the person who understands me and takes care of me and my family,” he added. “This is what I’m looking for.”

The couple have been together since 2017 and announced their engagement in August 2025. Ronaldo said he always knew he would propose, but the moment came naturally.

“She asked me for a ring to offer her, because it was one of her dreams to have like a good stone,” he said.

“I was giving the ring and my two girls came in and they said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mom and you’re going to ask her to be married.’

“I didn’t get on bended knee because I wasn’t prepared, but it was beautiful, so I had tears in my eyes.”

Ronaldo’s wedding plans

Ronaldo confirmed the pair plan to marry after the World Cup, saying Georgina prefers a quiet ceremony over a lavish celebration.

“We plan to do it after the World Cup with the trophy,” he said. “But she is not the person that likes big parties. She likes private things. So I will respect these decisions.”

For Ronaldo, who has five children and continues to balance global fame with family life, the message was simple — love and gratitude come first.

“Everything happens for a reason,” he said. “We are a blessed family. I’m proud of that.”
