LeBron James and Steph Curry both spoke about the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but neither man offered a simple yes or no.
Their comments came during a joint appearance on the Mind The Game podcast, where James was reunited with Curry to talk Team USA, legacy and the run that ended with Olympic gold in Paris.
The pair delivered one of the tournament’s defining storylines in 2024.
Now the spotlight has shifted to whether the veterans could return when the Games come to California.
James and Curry on 2028 Olympics
James made his position clear the moment the topic surfaced. He joked with co-host Steve Nash and Curry that nobody should expect a repeat appearance.
“You already know my answer,” James said. “I will be watching it from Cabo.”
He explained that the emotional high of the Paris run is something he does not plan to chase again. “You can’t top what we just did,” he said.
“We can’t top those last two games, and just, the moment,” he continued. “We literally played France in Paris.”
Curry was more hesitant. He left the door open, although only slightly.
“Never say never,” he said when asked if Los Angeles was on the table.
“God willing I still have the choice and the physical option to feel like I can actually impact the team, I’d never say never, but I highly doubt it,” he said.
“I’d love to be a part of the movement,” he added, noting that he and James have discussed the question privately before.
Curry and James friendship
Curry and James became close during the 2024 Olympics, turning years of NBA rivalry into a partnership that helped deliver gold.
The Golden State star later told PEOPLE the experience created “a deepened respect and friendship”.
“All the battles we’ve had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star game or whatever, but in high-stakes basketball with a lot on the line…I think we motivated each other even more,” Curry said.
