SHAWN KEMP CELEBRATES ESCAPING JAIL SENTENCE BY THROWING DOWN AT WEEZY CONCERT

Former NBA star Shawn Kemp spent his final night of freedom at a Lil Wayne show, turning heads at Climate Pledge Arena.

The 55-year-old SuperSonics legend was caught on video enjoying himself at “The Carter VI” tour stop in Seattle.

The footage showed him dancing, laughing, and even leaning in close to a friend as Lil Wayne delivered hit after hit. For a man about to start home detention, he looked in no rush to worry.

Shawn Kemp was also spotted backstage meeting Weezy himself.

A judge sentenced Kemp last month to 30 days of electronic monitoring after he pleaded guilty to second-degree assault.

Known as the “Reign Man,” he was one of the most explosive dunkers of the 1990s, making six All-Star teams and leading Seattle to the 1996 NBA Finals alongside Gary Payton.

His highlight reels became a staple of the decade, all tomahawk slams and fast-break finishes that rattled rims across the league.

The case dated back to March 2023, when he fired his revolver at an SUV in a busy Tacoma Mall parking lot. No one was hurt, but prosecutors argued it was reckless and dangerous.

They wanted nine months in jail, citing video evidence of the confrontation. However, Judge Michael Schwartz accepted Kemp’s version that he believed one of the men fired first.

He also considered Kemp’s claim that the men had stolen property from his truck the night before. In the end, Schwartz handed down community service and home detention instead of prison time.

That decision quickly drew criticism. Prosecutors argued that Washington state law does not permit home detention for violent crimes.

Shawn Kemp set for retrial

They have since filed a motion requesting that the court reconsider the sentence. The dispute is due back in court on September 9, leaving Kemp’s punishment hanging in the balance.

In the meantime, the former All-Star is wearing an ankle bracelet instead of a jail jumpsuit. He also has 240 hours of community service ahead, along with 12 months of community custody.
