LEBRON JAMES, ANTHONY DAVIS INJURY LEAK SURFACES IN FBI GAMBLING CASE AS EX-NBA COACH CHARGED

The NBA’s gambling scandal has deepened after court filings revealed that injury information involving LeBron James and Anthony Davis surfaced in a federal indictment.

Authorities allege that Damon Jones, a former NBA player and coach, leaked private details about the Lakers stars to sports bettors before key games.

Jones, 41, now faces federal charges for allegedly using insider access to influence wagers.

Neither James nor Davis faces any accusation of wrongdoing. Still, their names appeared in filings describing how confidential injury updates were shared with gamblers.

According to reports, prosecutors believe Jones leaked LeBron’s injury status before a February 2023 game.

They also allege he revealed details about Davis ahead of a January 2024 matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In that case, Jones allegedly told a co-defendant that a player identified only as “Player 4” was “probable.”

Davis was the only Laker listed that way. One bettor then placed a $100,000 wager against the Lakers, who went on to win the game.

Between December 2022 and March 2024, Jones and several co-defendants allegedly used non-public NBA information to profit from sports wagers.

Prosecutors say the group coordinated bets and passed along insider updates from within teams.

Jones once played alongside LeBron in Cleveland and later worked around the Lakers in a coaching capacity.

That access, investigators claim, gave him valuable insight into player fitness and lineup decisions.

His lawyer has not commented and the NBA has yet to release a statement.

The indictment was part of a broader FBI operation spanning 11 states. Officials confirmed that 31 people were arrested Thursday across two gambling-related cases.

One of those cases also involved Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups, who was linked to illegal poker games.
