THE HIGHEST-PAID NBA POINT GUARDS IN 2025-26: STEPH CURRY TOP, SGA AWAITS HUGE JUMP

The point guard position is perhaps the most technical in basketball, with players in the position responsible for getting the ball up the court, finding open teammates and making shots.

It is understandable, then, that the highest-paid player in the NBA is a point guard – but some are perhaps dramatically underpaid.

Here, we have looked into the top 11 best-paid point guards for the 2025-26 season.

1. Steph Curry ($59.6million)

One of the greatest players of the modern era, and a man who has changed the way the game is played, it’s little surprise that Curry is not just the highest-paid point guard but the overall highest-paid player in the NBA.

The $59.6million that he will earn this season is $13million more than any other point guard in the league, barring top spot.

Though his last contract extension was only for a year, it’s believed Curry will be with the Golden State Warriors for another couple of seasons after this one.

=2. Jamal Murray ($46.4million)

Unlike a few others on this list, Denver Nuggets point guard Murray is on a veteran contract, not a rookie extension.

On that deal, he earns $46.4million for the season, and has four years left, at the end of which he’ll be earning $57.5million.

=2. Cade Cunningham ($46.4million)

As the No.1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Cunningham’s rookie extension deal is worth more than most.

For this season, he’ll make $46.4million, and in four years, his salary will take a big jump to $61.2million.

=4. Trae Young ($45.99million)

Atlanta’s longest tenured player, Young has been with the organisation since 2018 and is in the final year of his designated rookie extension, which currently sees him earn $45.99million for the season.

After the 2025-26 season, Young has a player option for $48.9million, before he’s due to enter free agency.

=4. Luka Doncic ($45.99million)

Doncic is in the exact same situation as Young, in that he is currently earning $45.99million with the LA Lakers, and after a player option worth $48.9million next year, he’s expected to enter free agency.

He becomes eligible for a new contract in August, and the Lakers are believed to be working hard to tie him down and are very confident that they can do so.

6. Tyrese Haliburton ($45.5million)

A vital part of one of the best NBA Finals in recent years, as the Indiana Pacers got to 3-3 with the Oklahoma City Thunder before losing, Haliburton makes $45.5million on his designated rookie extension contract.

He’s under contract for another four years, by the end of which he’ll be earning $55.7million.

Continuing to play like he did in the last season will surely mean the Indiana Pacers have no issues with giving him so much money.

=7. Darius Garland ($39.4million)

After six years in the league with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Garland is making good money.

This season, the point guard is making $39.4million, and in two years, that will rise by approximately $5million.

=7. Ja Morant ($39.4million)

Morant and Garland are level on $39.4million this season, and the Memphis Grizzlies star’s contract will rise in the same way that Garland’s will.

Morant is guaranteed $126million from the Grizzlies, which is more than any other player on the roster.

9. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($38.3million)

Gilgeous-Alexander won the NBA MVP award in 2025, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Championship.

He is still on his rookie extension contract, which means he is not earning quite as much as he might be expected to having won the MVP.

After penning a new deal, SGA will go from earning $38.3million a year, and being out-earned by players who haven’t had close to his impact in the league, to an average of $71.25million – the highest in NBA history.

That deal does not kick in this season, but he is well on his way to amassing a great personal fortune through his achievements both on and off the court.

=10. Tyrese Maxey ($203million)

Maxey has worked his way up from a rookie contract to a lucrative max deal after four years.

He was previously making $12.1million per season but is now on $203million over five years, making just under $38million for the coming season.

=10. LaMelo Ball ($203million)

The 2021 rookie of the year and an All-Star in 2022, LaMelo was deserving of his extension with the Charlotte Hornets when it came in 2024.

Like Maxey, he saw a large jump to $203million over five years, with an average salary of $38million.
