Jarren Duran’s battles with hecklers at Fenway Park show no sign of stopping. The Red Sox star fired back at a fan on Tuesday night, adding another chapter to his controversial run-ins.
The moment came in the eighth inning against the Orioles. Duran struck out with the bases loaded, and as he walked back to the dugout, broadcast cameras caught him turning to the stands. His reply to the heckling? “F*** you, p***y.”
The Sox went on to lose 4-3, and neither the team nor Duran addressed the flashpoint after the game. But fans on X wasted no time piling in.
One wrote: “Big day for Jarren Duran haters.” Another posted: “Jarren Duran is going to get suspended again isn’t he.” A third summed up the mood more simply: “Not getting into Jarren Duran discourse today.”

For Duran, the incident feels familiar. Last August, he was suspended for two games after a hot mic picked up him calling a fan a homophobic slur.
He later apologised, while MLB redirected his forfeited salary to Greater PFLAG Boston. Earlier this year, he almost came to blows with a heckler in Cleveland who taunted him over his past suicide attempt.
Those moments have come alongside flashes of brilliance on the field. Duran opened 2024 as Boston’s leadoff hitter under Alex Cora and finished the season as an All-Star.
He even won MVP in the midsummer showcase, blasting a go-ahead home run that gave the American League the win.
Statistically, he delivered one of his best campaigns. In 2024, he led MLB in plate appearances and doubles, tied for the lead in triples, and finished top ten in AL MVP voting. His slash line of .285/.342/.492 showed his impact across the year.
This season has been bumpier. He’s hitting .263 with 12 home runs, numbers that pale in comparison to last year’s highs. Still, his intensity remains a constant, even if it sometimes spills into confrontations with the stands.
Duran’s mix of production, emotion and controversy has made him one of the most divisive figures in baseball.
