BIG UPDATE ON MLB’S NEW $2BILLION LAS VEGAS STADIUM AMID FEARS IT WILL MISS 2028 DEADLINE

The Athletics president Marc Badain has provided a big stadium update as the franchise prepares to relocate to Las Vegas.

The proposed move is set to take place in 2028, with the team – formerly known as the Oakland Athletics – expected to play in a brand-new state-of-the-art 33,000 capacity stadium.

In recent times, there have been concerns about the feasibility of the project, with some doubting it will meet the 2028 deadline.

Nevertheless, Badain has attempted to ease some of those fears by providing an update on the new venue.

‘Prep work’ has been done says A’s chief

According to Las Vegas Stadium Authority, there are several key development milestones scheduled to take place before November.

Hundreds of workers are reportedly making progress on the site, while ‘vertical work’ is expect to start in the coming months.

Badain told the authority: “I would hope that we start seeing [vertical work] by the end of September, or early October.

“Some of that prep work has already been done, but there’s obviously so many things you can do until the permitting is in place.

“As soon as we get that, we’ll see the concrete get poured, and some of the decks will get poured.

“There’s rebar in place, so you’ll get to see the foundation of the building start to take shape.”

MLB action continues in Sacramento

While the A’s await their move to Sin City, the team have been busy with MLB action over in Sacramento.

The franchise has already dropped ‘Oakland’ from their name ahead of the switch and left the Oakland Coliseum back in September 2024.

The move to Sacramento has not helped their results, with the A’s slumping to the bottom of the American League West division.

Their downfall in the league comes despite a huge injection of cash into the roster.

Nevertheless, the cost of the playing roster is nowhere near the cost of the new stadium, with latest projections estimating a total bill of $2billion.
