Sydney Sweeney will be looking to punch her way into Oscar contention after working on her latest project.
The American actress, who has never won an Academy Award, is starring in a new film called ‘Christy’.
Set to premiere on Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival, the movie looks at the life of Christy Martin.
Sweeney has never been nominated for an Oscar, but according to a report by TMZ, her latest role could put her in contention.

The 27-year-old is one of the biggest names in American television and entertainment.
She was recently involved in huge controversy by featuring in a jeans advert for American Eagle.
The company’s denim campaign featured Sweeney in several ads playing on the words “jeans” and “genes.”
One clip shows her saying, “Genes are passed down from parents… my jeans are blue,” before the tagline, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” appears.
Controversy stemmed from apparent cultural and political implications, as well as objectification of women.
Who was Christy Martin?
Sweeney’s new film is all about former American pro boxer, Christy Martin.
Known for her ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ nickname, the boxer held the WBC female super welterweight championship in 2009.
Martin was also one of the first females to enter the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020.
The former champion finished her pro career with 49 victories from 59 fights – including 32 wins by way of knockout.
Martin had memorable fights with the likes of Mia St John, Laila Ali and Holly Holm.
Away from boxing, Martin survived an attempted murder. Back in 2010, the boxer was stabbed several times and shot once in her torso.
Her husband, James V. Martin, was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Last November, he died in prison while serving his time.
