JAKE PAUL VS GERVONTA DAVIS IS OFFICIAL… BUT HERE’S THE BIT THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW

Jake Paul’s next fight has been confirmed, with the social media superstar set to take on multi-time world champion Gervonta Davis.

The bout, which will be streamed globally on Netflix, has been scheduled for November 14 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The fight marks the culmination of a four-year rivalry which has seen both men throw insults at each other online.

It also marks the latest step in Paul’s unorthodox boxing career, which has seen him build a 12-1 professional record.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer famously shared the ring with Mike Tyson last November in another Netflix exhibition.

A few months later, ‘The Problem Child’ picked up a unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Paul was in talks for a fight with Anthony Joshua in recent weeks, however the social media star has seemingly gone from one extreme to another.

In an official Netflix press release, Paul said: “Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long,

“His nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone and I’m about to disable his ass.

“Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, anyplace, against all odds.

“And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath, and you are all going watch me do it, breaking viewership records again.”

Bout will be an exhibition – are we in for another glorified sparring session?

November’s bout will be an exhibition, which has raised questions over its legitimacy.

Paul, who weighed over 200lbs for his bout with Mike Tyson, will have a significant advantage over Davis, who normally competes at 135lbs.

Unlike professional bouts, exhibitions are not sanctioned by major commissions, making fights of this nature possible.

Exhibitions don’t count towards a professional record, and rules can often be tinkered with.

For instance, some exhibitions have no judges and no official winners. Knockouts are also highly discouraged, meaning these fights can often seem like controlled sparring sessions rather than true fights.

Paul’s brother Logan famously boxed Floyd Mayweather in a 2021 exhibition, where the weight difference was also significant.
