Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis is shaping up to be the most overprepared exhibition in boxing history.
The YouTuber-turned-fighter has revealed that the November 14 bout will feature a knockout bonus, even though both men will be wearing 12-ounce gloves in a contest that won’t count on their professional records.
It’s part of Netflix’s growing combat sports circus, and Paul is determined to make it a spectacle.
Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis
Speaking on the Doubl3 Coverage Podcast, Paul confirmed the clause with the confidence of a man who loves a marketing twist.
“There is going to be a big, big knockout bonus,” he said. “If someone knocks the other out, they’re gonna get a big bonus.”
At first glance, the fight looks absurd. Paul walks around near cruiserweight, while Gervonta “Tank” Davis has spent his career knocking out men nearly 40 pounds lighter.
Davis is 30-0-1 with 28 KOs, a record that screams destruction. Yet he’ll now try to dent a man who built his career on post-fight YouTube uploads.
Paul’s physical advantages are obvious. He’s taller, heavier, and thrives on controlling tempo through aggression.
Still, Davis is a genuine technician — one of boxing’s sharpest counterpunchers — and could turn the contest into a clinic if the exhibition rules don’t spoil the rhythm.
Sparring Partners and Strategy
Despite calling it a “fun” event, Paul is reportedly taking preparation as seriously as any real title fight.
He’s enlisted Shakur Stevenson, the unbeaten former world champion, to help him get ready.
The irony isn’t lost on fans: Stevenson and Davis have traded verbal jabs for years, and now the former is helping Paul prepare for the same man.
Paul says he’s even trying to lose muscle to match Davis’ speed. He told TMZ Sports he wants to “walk Tank into a knockout like I’ve done with other opponents.”
Considering this is a hybrid exhibition, that goal feels like shadowboxing with delusion — but in the Paul era, spectacle often trumps logic.
