JAKE PAUL BREAKS JAW AFTER BRUTAL ANTHONY JOSHUA KNOCKOUT

Jake Paul drove himself to hospital with a double broken jaw after suffering a heavy knockout defeat to Anthony Joshua in Miami.

The former YouTuber lasted six rounds with the ex-heavyweight champion before Joshua’s power finally ended the fight in the early hours of Saturday morning GMT.

Joshua dropped Paul twice in the fifth round. He then sent him to the canvas twice more in the sixth to bring a one-sided contest to a close.

Paul was spitting blood as he left the ring and admitted immediately afterwards that he feared his jaw had been fractured.

“I’m feeling good, that was fun, I love this sport,” Paul said in his in-ring interview.

Hospital visit confirms double fracture

Paul’s boxing promoter Nakisa Bidarian revealed that the 28-year-old went straight to hospital for treatment after the fight.

“We met with Netflix afterwards, he took a shower, he drove himself to the hospital,” Bidarian said.

“A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA and I think the recovery time from doctors we’ve already spoken to is four to six weeks.”

Paul later shared an image of his X-ray on social media, confirming a double fracture to his jaw. He also posted graphic clips showing the damage he had sustained during the fight.

His brother Logan visited him in hospital and shared a photo from Paul’s bedside.

Paul vows to return after recovery

Despite the injury, Paul remained upbeat and defiant.

He confirmed he plans to take a short break from boxing before returning at a lower weight.

“I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years,” Paul said.

“I’ll take some time off. This is amazing. We will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight.”

Paul also praised Joshua after the bout.

“Anthony Joshua is a great fighter,” he said. “I got beat, but that’s what this sport is about. I will come back and keep on winning.”

Automatic suspension and Joshua’s next target

Paul has also been handed an automatic 60-day suspension by the Florida Athletic Commission.

Under commission rules, any boxer who suffers a knockout defeat must serve a mandatory suspension. That ban can be extended if the stoppage is deemed particularly severe.

Joshua, meanwhile, wasted little time looking ahead.

Following the victory, the former world champion called out Tyson Fury, reigniting talk of a long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown.
